Three years ago when I was looking to rebrand, I stood in my closet, looking for colors that were “me.” My closet is filled with a lot of muted colors– tans, browns, off whites– I’m a red head, what can I say?
I knew I was going to use grey as a secondary color because black was/is too harsh for my taste. I loved green, but I had begun my business with a green logo and wanted a change. The color needed to match my re-branding vision. I was looking for something fresh, clean, and happy.
There it was. A yellow shirt. I had it for years, but it stood out that day. It became the exact same color of the yellow in my logo.
I contacted my graphic designer with my choice. Grey and yellow. It sounded so original.
Ha.
Little did I know it would become THE color combination. At first I was a little annoyed, but I’m over that now. Seeing this email from West Elm just made me smile.
Do you see the subject line? “Guess what colors we’re crushing on…?” I like them too
