Mele Kalikimaka!01.13.12

Ten days was not long enough. We had a lovely Christmas on the Big Island. It was a unique experience for us– no Christmas tree, no presents, no Christmas Eve service, no santa. We spent the entire holiday just making memories. It was lovely.

My brother has a photography business in Seattle, Troy Tiberi Photography. You can only imagine what it was like for our family to have TWO cameras pointed at them at all times!

We put over 1000 miles on our rental car, exploring the entire island with the top down listening to the kids’ favorite dance music on the ipod :) One of my favorite days on the island is when we used the guidebook to explore. We were excited to find a tree pictured in the book. The wind was UNBELIEVABLE. I love Troy’s modern eye. He captured this shot perfectly: Here’s the southern most point of the United States……and here’s my husband jumping off that point even though the guidebook says to “see that your life insurance policy is in order before you go, and buy a good guidebook to Antarctica– just in case.” He loves adventures, and in his words, he “evaluated the risk.” :) Yes, my brother and sis-in-law jumped too (Ashley, you’re awesome). Do you see who’s missing? Yeah, there’s no way on God’s green earth!  At Volcano National Park. A lava tube captured by Troy!I know why Hawaii has a rainbow on its license plate. We saw at least five rainbows in three days!LOOK!It’s LAVA!One of our favorite beaches:

Another awesome shot by Troy.

The waves were so fun…

…and took ALL of our energy! My favorite restaurant– a little breakfast shack with a beautiful view of the ocean.
Stay tuned for our Hawaii photo sessions!

Fantastic pictures. I love the ones of the little ones.
The pictures of the islands were really good. Since I have never been there, it gave me a glimpse of how beautiful it is.
